Part-Time Autonomous Vehicle Operator – $23/hr + $500 Sign-On Bonus

Location: Grand Rapids, MN
Pay: $23.00 per hour + $500 Sign-On Bonus
Job Type: Part-Time | Up to 30 Hours per Week
Employment Type: Ongoing W2 Contract
Schedule: Shifts between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM, seven days a week

JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking dependable, safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Autonomous Vehicle Operators in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

In this role, you will support an innovative self-driving public transportation service by monitoring autonomous vehicle technology, ensuring passenger safety, assisting riders, and documenting daily operations.

Important: This is not a traditional driving position. The vehicle operates autonomously, and your primary responsibility is to monitor its performance, maintain situational awareness, and take manual control when necessary.

No previous autonomous vehicle experience is required. Candidates with strong customer service skills, professional driving experience, or backgrounds in safety-focused environments are encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Monitor autonomous vehicle systems during daily passenger operations.
2. Maintain constant situational awareness and follow traffic laws and safety procedures.
3. Take manual control of the vehicle when required for safety.
4. Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and transportation needs.
5. Support passengers using wheelchairs, including helping them up ramps and securing mobility equipment.
6. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections.
7. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and operational readiness.
8. Document daily activities, technical events, and vehicle performance using digital reporting tools.
9. Communicate operational concerns and provide feedback to supervisors.
10. Follow strict safety procedures, including a zero-phone-use policy during vehicle operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 25 years old.
• Valid driver's license held continuously for at least 3 consecutive years without gaps.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to pass an MVR check.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and digital reporting systems.
• Ability to remain focused and alert throughout operational shifts.
• Comfortable assisting wheelchair passengers and routinely exerting or lifting 30–50 lbs.
• Ability to complete required background screening and drug/alcohol testing in accordance with applicable law.
• Availability to complete 1–2 weeks of mandatory training.
• Ability to work on-site in Grand Rapids, MN.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 1–2 years of professional driving experience, including rideshare, delivery, or transportation.
• Customer service, hospitality, or passenger assistance experience.
• Experience in safety-sensitive or fast-paced operational environments.
• Familiarity with vehicle inspections, technical troubleshooting, or digital documentation.

Professional driving experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with exceptional customer service skills and a strong commitment to safety are welcome to apply.

• Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
• Sign-On Bonus: $500
• Hours: Part-time, up to 30 hours per week
• Shift Availability: 10:00 AM–9:00 PM, seven days a week
• Contract: Ongoing W2 employment 
• Training: 1–2 weeks of mandatory initial training
